Bottlebrush Buckeye Shrub

This is one of the offspring from the parent plant I purchased four growing seasons ago. Like the rest of my outdoor potted plants, this Bottlebrush Buckeye weathered the high winds and hard rains from Hurricane Helene just fine. This was its second growing season and it bore several beautiful and unique white flowers before I dug it up. The plant is resistant to insect invasions but the flowers attract a very nice variety of pollinators.

Your purchase is for a healthy, bare rooted plant that will be wrapped in damp burlap with a bit of aged mulch for good measure. It's in its nature to multi-stem but my experience has been that this is not an invasive plant in spite of the use of that word in some of the general info links.

The attached Southern Living article is packed with general information about this species but warns that the Bottlebrush Buckeye is toxic to humans, dogs, cats, and horses. I believe the author of that article. My dog and horse (and me!) were never inclined to eat them but do keep this caution in mind when planting.
